Deputy Principal Academics

Muraga Technical Training Institute (MTTI) has the Deputy Principal Academic Affairs whose core function is to ensure academic excellence and integrity of the institution. One of two deputy principals—who is serviced by the Deputy Principal Administration—this officer oversees all academic programs, from curriculum delivery to exam administration, and has the core leadership role of overseeing academic departments
Key Responsibilities
Academic Planning and Implementation
The Deputy Principal is involved in coordinating and organizing all classes, generating timetables timely, and as per KNEC and KASNEB standards. The Deputy Principal works with Heads of Department to offer quality education in subjects such as Electrical Engineering, ICT, Agriculture, and Institutional Management
Curriculum Oversight and Quality Assurance
This office ensures the curriculum has passed national and industry standards. It chairs or sits on academic boards like the registrar, Dean of Students, and HODs to decide and maintain quality standards and academic policy
Assessment and Examination Management
Internal assessment and grading systems are coordinated, conducted, and administered under this Deputy Principal’s leadership to guarantee fairness, standardization, and timely completion of exams prior to students progressing or graduating
Staff Development & Performance Support
They enable continuous professional growth of lecturers and trainers, promoting innovative pedagogies and teaching practices responsive to evolving technical and vocational training goals
Industrial Linkages & Research Coordination
The office also supports research and innovation, often liaising with industry partners to provide internships, practical attachments, and hands‑on exposure that reinforce classroom learning with real‑world application
Policy Guidance & Strategic Input
As part of the senior administrative team, the Deputy Principal contributes to strategic planning and policy decisions, helping define MTTI’s long‑term academic vision and aligning it with Kenya’s Vision 2030 and TVET goals

Muraga Technical Training Institute, established in 2017 by the Kenyan Government Ministry of Education, has witnessed tremendous growth in enrollment since government funding reforms and interest in its TVET training programs In such a context, the Deputy Principal Academic Affairs ensures that higher student numbers are received with structured academic delivery, quality, and timely examination intake—a prerequisite to ensure serial improvement and institutional reputation.
